Prof. Dr. Andreas R. Ziegler
Andreas R. Ziegler has been a counsel in the Lausanne and Zurich offices since 2007. He is a Professor at the University of Lausanne Law School and Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich as well as at the Faculty of Law of the University of New South Wales in Sydney (Australia). He is also the Director of the LLM Programme in International and European Economic and Business Law at the University of Lausanne and the Academy of International Economic Law and Dispute Settlement.

Andreas is experienced in all aspects of public and administrative law, in particular, international and European economic law, including trade, investment, movement of persons, as well as competition law and IP and technology related national and international transactions. He has published extensively in these fields. Andreas also has experience in the area of international legal assistance and international criminal law, including UN and EU sanctions, as well as Swiss law relating to embargos, the fight against corruption and trade in specific products. He is also a specialist on questions relating to immunities, and the status of international organisations.

Andreas obtained his degrees in international economic relations and law from the University of St. Gallen in 1992 and 1995 and his PhD in 1995. He earned an LLM at the European University Institute in 1993 and was a Kronstein fellow at Georgetown University and the International Law Institute in Washington DC. He was also awarded the Diploma of European Law by the Academy of European Law in Florence in 1993 and in International Law by the Hague Academy (1997). He obtained the Diploma of International Humanitarian Law of the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1994. He has taught at the Universities of St. Gallen, Chicago-Kent College of Law (Chicago IL), Pittsburgh (PA) and Yeditepe University (Istanbul, Turkey). His working languages are German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Andreas is currently the President of the Swiss Chapter of the International Law Association (ILA) and a member of the following professional associations: European Society of International Law, American Society of International Law, German Society of International Law, Association of German Speaking Professors of Public Law, European Community Studies Association, Swiss Society of European Law, Association de droit international économique, Arbeitskreis Völkerstrafrecht, Association of International Military Law and the Law of Armed Conflict.
